    MX 306 A/G TT Commo Wire 1/2mile.
Cannister (donut) WD-1/TT NOS sealed containers.  Wire is pliable and in excellent condition;  this wire was properly stored, maintaining the polyethylene coating and a nylon jacket --  both having
    a viscous (oily) constitution.
Perfect for extemporaneous laying out wire as fast as one can walk or run.  This Wire donut  canvas cannister can also be strapped from the shoulder as shown in the illustration for the smaller MX-6894/TT and MX-6895/TT
    .
Twisted WD-1/TT is the thickest and with a  tensile strength of 200 lbs.
All this wire  has a polyethylene coating and a nylon jacket --  both having
a viscous (oily) constitution.  Like all plastic and rubber coatings a long
exposure duration  of direct sun and  weather exposure will eventually
deteriorate the coatings, making it hard and brittle causing cracks.  While
the metal components will remain intact, the wire will become susceptible to
moisture and water from rain.  This will cause intermittent shortages and
    affect the communicatio quality.
It's hard to determine how long it would take for these deteriorating
conditions to occur.  I'm sure that in my military experience we had some
areas where we left wire for over an year or more exposed.   Of course
periodically inspecting exposed wire makes a lot of sense.  The first signs
of static communications  would require to check the condition of wire.  Our
biggest problem were usually inadvertent damage through vehicle traffic and
sometimes sabotage ;  civilian use probabilities would also include animals
chewing and squirrels also.  Elevated wire, in my opinion, offers better
    protection.
