    Description

    M1934 Wool Shirt
Original pre-WW2 US Army M1934 enlisted wool shirt, mustard-OD green wool flannel construction featuring two chest pockets, full button front with placket, elbow patches which extend from just above elbow to just above cuff, and button cuffs with clipped corners [these two features were a carry-over from the predecessor pullover type shirt of WW1 vintage]. Shirt retains all original rimmed reddish composition buttons on front and pockets, but both cuff buttons have been replaced at some point. Remnants of washed out QM label at tail. Typical small size, about a 14 1/2 x 32. Several small moth holes/nips throughout, but nothing adversely affecting overall appearance.
This "coat-style" [full button front] shirt was developed as a result of early experiences with the Civilian Conservation Corps [CCC], who were issued the old WW1 pullover shirts and often cut them down the front for easier removal. The elbow patches, clipped cuff corners, and reddish buttons would be eliminated with the introduction of the Model 1937 wool shirt. Hard to find piece for your pre-war/CCC uniform collection and is in good condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
