    Description
    This is an ORIGINAL aluminum goggle box or "Coffin Can" designed for holding the Luxor Airex goggles, which was manufactured by the E.B Meyrowitz in the late-1920's.  The Airex goggles were apparently very similar to the Air Corps/AAF Type B-6 goggles, in that the Airex would accept different colored lenses.  Mick Prodger in his monumental reference book
    Vintage Flying Helmets
    at page 171 shows such a google box with a pair of B-2 googles, which he states were the Luxor No. 7 goggles.  Prodger also states that goggles equivalent to the Type B-6 were manufactured by a variety of companies, including E.B. Meyrowitz Inc., which may include the Airex goggles [Page 36].
    Online, I was able to find two images of a goggle can identical to this one, holding what appears to be a Luxor No.7, although the one with sponge rubber cushions may be an actual Airex goggle (please see images below
    ).  At any rate, the can is in VERY GOOD condition, with no dents and a minimum of scratches on the exterior surfaces for an object that is upwards of 90-years old! The box is 8.5" x 3" x 2" in size and will also hold any of the AAF Type B-6, B-7 or AN6530 goggles.
