Up for sale I can today offer, an ORIGINAL, PRE-WWII Disney Mickey or Minnie Mouse character toy. From my limited research, I believe that this type is among the earliest of the Disney brand character toys in this "pose-able" configuration. It is constructed basically of wood, with cloth ears, and black-insulated copper wire which forms the arms and legs, which can be bent into any position...(although considering its age, I'd not recommend it). It's in overall excellent condition for its age, and only shows a bit of crazing / cracking to the black wire insulation, (primarily near the shoulders), and a small area of loss on the label. What's interesting, is although the label clearly states "MINNIE MOUSE", it's been imparted to me that the figure is actually MICKEY...perhaps a factory boo boo?? Guess we'll never know, but perhaps the wrong label was simply applied by an over tired worker?? Please rely on the photos and draw your own conclusion as to its ACTUAL gender! The ears are intact, and this toy is, in a word, adorable. These early, pre WWII character figures are RARE in the extreme, especially in such nice shape, as simply due to their nature, there was a high rate of attrition after so much play wear, as you would imagine. This little Mickey or Minnie Mouse figure stands only a few inches tall, (3 1/2 inches from soles of the shoes to the top of its head, roughly 3 3/4 inches to the top of its ears), and if you collect vintage Disney character toys, I believe you'll look far and wide before you find another example such as this.
