Original Czech m30 Experimental combat helmet, issued through the Spansih Civil War
This type of helmet was developped in the '30s in Czech/Slowak republics, but the design wasn't adopted by the military.
Most of these helmets were sold to Ethiopia, Netherlands and Spain.
During the Spanish civil war these saw extended use amongst Republican troops, and after the war, most of them got refurbished by the Franco military, by addition of a welded bracket to accomodate the Spanish eagle badge.
Helmet is in good condition considering it's age.
Due to different paint layers beiing applied during its service, it creates a very interresting camo scheme.
The grey Republican paint can clearly be seen aswell, and can be found inside the dome of the shell also.
Two vent lugs are present, in the typicakl Austro-Hungarian way.
Two tiny holes have been punched trough the shell, where an insignia used to be attached (metal parts of the attchment still in the holes).
The liner is the standard 3-pad Spanish liner, backed by white felt.
There's some markings/engravings on the leather but I can't really make out what.
Most of the original Czech liners were replaced during and after the war, as they didn't survive the harsh climate nor conditions.
The chinstrap bales are present aswell.
Helmets in this condition are quite rare, so don't hesistate to take your chance on this one...a great add to any collection !
