Offered for your consideration here we have what is known as a Gohonzon Buddhist scroll used in worship in various Nichiren Buddhist Sects. All the Nichiren sects of this Buddhism venerate the founder 13th century priest known as Nichiren Daishonin(Nichiren Shonin in some sects).
They focus their prayers towards the scroll and chant the words Nam Myoho Renge Kyo (some sects say Namu followed by Myoho Renge Kyo).
The scroll measures approx: 7.0 by 14.0 inches.
The scroll here is the version Gohonzon issued during the tenure of the 65th High Priest of Nichiren Shoshu, Nichijun Shonin.
This scroll is known as OKATAGI meaning woodblock and was the scrolls given out to the laymen of Nichiren Shoshu (Hokkeko) and even to the Soka Gakkai (SGI) at that time period.  Interesting enough, this particular Gohonzon has the more unedited version of transcription by the 26th High Priest, Nichikan (SGI presently use a version transcription from Nichikan that has been highly edited).
The scroll is a combo of special rice paper and silk  It is in Excellent condition with some wrinkles, etc (SEE SCANS).  There is discoloration on the character area due to incense burning from prayers.
These were given out in Nichiren Shoshu laymen (Hokkeko) and even to the SGI at one time during the tenure of Nichijun. These are no longer issued making
these type of Gohonzon very scarce and extremely rare!!!
These Nichijun issued Gohonzon are becoming more and more hard to find. Grab it before someone else does!!!

We have acquired these from former practitioners who no longer wish to continue their Buddhist practice OR have gotten them from an auction house in Japan..
Therefore at times we may not have any available. Stock is always short so when you see these listed by us, it is best to try and purchase.
The scrolls will in almost all cases be in excellent condition unless otherwise noted.
