    Description

Interesting announcement from the USS Wyoming for what I believe was a boxing match held on board the Wyoming in March 1926. The ship was located at Bouqueron, Cuba. Boquerón, located in the eastern shore of the bay, is the nearest Cuban settlement to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. The Wyoming was traveling from San Diego to New York with stops at Cuba and Haiti.
During this period, then-Commander William F. Halsey, Jr. came aboard as the ship's executive officer; he served on
    Wyoming
until 4 January 1927. Halsey is noted as being the head bounder on this announcement. The boxing matches involved fighters from the Wyoming as well as the USS New York and the USS Utah. 5 ¼” x 6 ¾”. Folded with a light bend.
